AirForce Pump/ Evanix Question...
« on: January 20, 2009, 03:35:55 AM »
Ladies and Gents I am working my way towards the DarkSide!  Got a question for you...   I've found a used AirForce pump at a decent price and am wondering if given the right adapters will it work on an Evanix AR6 or other Evanix rifles?  I know that some pumps aren't rated as high as others where PSI is concerned and I'm very new to this!  The gun hasn't been purchased yet- I'm still feeling the whole thing out.  Will the AirForce pump be capable of handling the pressure required to fill the Evanix?

Thanks in advance!

Yuppems, with the right adapters I think most any PCP pump will work with most any PCP (most pumps will do 3500 psi with enough pumping, and many guns only take a 200bar/2900psi fill).  I think you will only need a hose to replace the Airforce filler and the correct probe that should come with the rifle itself.  I also use a set of Foster QD fittings between hose and probes so I can swap probes from different guns without unscrewing anything...I have the same setup on my SCUBA setup.  Hope this helps!

Similar question. Not thread jacking;)
I'm going to break the ice with a Beeman Disco and hand pump. I'm planning to get a Condor in the spring, Is the Beeman pump up to the condors needs?
I'd prefer an alternative fill method but I'm out of options less than $1500.00 There is no place to fill a scuba tank.
Any Ideas

The Benjamin Disco pump will work on the Condor,,, you can order the fill adapter at Pyramydair and it will affix to the pump hose.  I've been told that the Air Forced pump and the Disco pump are actually pretty much the same pump and made by the same manufacturer.  I can't confirm that but if you look at the 2 of em side by side they do appear identical.

Perhaps another GTA member who knows for sure could confirm or refute that....

But in any event,,, the disco pump can be used on the condor  (but that first fill from empty is gonna wear you out...   After the first fill it won't be so bad cause you'll only be topping off the Air Force tank.  I have a scuba tank setup for my Condor and my Talon , but I do use my Air Force pump to to top off the tanks after a days hunting and it's not bad at all......

If ya have an industrial gas supplyer or a welding supply, any PCP gun can be ran on nitrogen, just have to be CAREFULL,N2o usually runs about 6k in the cylinder!

The first, second, third, and on will wear you out. I thought I would hand pump my Talon, but that only lasted a couple weeks. They are great fun to shoot but a pain in the butt to hand pump. Anyways there is a scuba tank in the garage. I have heard the Disco is pretty easy to fill by hand, but there is a bunch more air to fill in the Condor. Good Luck. Two guns, and a six pack!HEHE

I don't have an A.F. pump or Crosman pump either, but I've read they are one and the same also. I've also read they are junk. If you get one, I think they're rated to 3500 or 3600 Psi. I'm guessing here, but I think a lot of the failures has to do with over heating the pump.  As soon as it starts to get good and warm you better take a break. You should see what one guy did. He hooked up an electric motor to his pump and using the right combination of pullys, he got a nice slow steady stroke. Sit back and enjoy a soda or tea while the motor does the work.
