I am looking at the QB78D to use for hunting and the stock 650 fps is lower than I would like so, my question is can it be mod. for the 800s for the .177 cal?

Yes, but when you start hitting those numbers, it's a gas hog. I detuned mine to around 815fps and get around 25-30 full power shots on two powerlets now.
