Around 2 pm I was getting ready to leave the house to bowhunt deer when I looked out into the trees in the backyard. Up towards the top of the tree closest to the house were 2 fat pigeons looking down at the newly filled bird feeders. I put the bow gear down, ran to the basement and grabbed the trusty old .22 Black Shadow again. Same deal as the othe day, snuck out the basement, around the corner of the house, gun to the shoulder, BAM, one dead pigeon. The second bird flew into the next tree and landed near the top. Put the crosshairs on his chest, squeezed, the superdome slammed home and I had DOA pigeon #2.
I cleaned my prizes (yes, I do eat them,,, pluck them, season them, wrap some bacon around them, then broil them until skin is brown,,, mmmmm mmmmm) popped them in the frig. and went bowhunting. Stayed in the tree stand until dark without seeing any deer, but had a great time. All in all a great afternoon.
