B3-345 Thoughts....
« on: February 18, 2009, 06:19:05 AM »
These are just some thoughts from a person who has repeatedly tried to swear off springers. They only thing is, how could I make an educated decision about springers unless I have tried them ALL! I think that my main problem up until now has been that I always opted for the magnum class springers and not the lower velocity and often less expensive ones. However, most of my shooting is done at 10m with the occasional targets at 25m and I don't need downrange energy since I am not a hunter. I guess I always figured that more power, higher velocity, flatter trajectory was better, even if I didn't always need it. Well, at 10m last night I put around 50 pellets through a new B3-3 and have shot my best 5 shot springer group yet, one ragged hole. This is not an impressive feat compared to many groups I've seen posted here at greater distances, but it is the best one I have acheived so far with a springer. This was before the rifle was broken in, with a stock heavy, creepy trigger, a barrel so far to the left it was hard to scope, probably while still dieseling, before I tightened up the screws, before I cleaned the barrel or anything else, and using 10 year old Daisy wadcutters. It was unexpected and exciting. The cocking was far easier than the other rifles I've owned, it was lighter, it was cheap and it was accurate! Thank you to Howie for showing how beautiful and accurate these inexpensive chinese guns can be. If this is any indication, I'll be adding quite a few of these lower powered springers to my armory very soon.
