« on: April 18, 2009, 02:55:18 AM »
Hey guys,
I just saw in the  "BIG 5"  Saturday paper store ads the Rugar Airhawk  .177 for $119. I ahven't priced it anywhere else cuz I'm short on time this morning. Just passing it along.

If you're a club member you can use one of those readily available $10 off coupons (no minimum purchase amount) and get the Air hawk or the Black Hawk for $79 bucks.....   I've been hovering over that "buy" button for several weeks now but my problem is I keep spending my money on other "trinkets"

SPORTSAUTHORITY has them for $120 and there is a 25% off promo going on now so you can get one for $90+tax=$95.39 out the door.

I'm a member at Sportsmansguide and will be letting my membership lapse because they won't ship rifles to MI.  I've gone back and forth with them because the stupid law is nebulous and that causes some to ship and others not.  Anyway, I'm mostly heartbroken because a few months ago they had them in the "Amazing Deals" tab for get this...$54!  And I could have applied a coupon code towards it!!!!  I actually placed the order to see what would happen and two days later they cancelled my order.  I've also seen Crosman Quests go for $75.

So does anyone know how the Ruger would compare to my Gamo Big Cat?  Is it worth getting another .177?  Guess I could justify that the Gamo is synthetic and the Ruger is honest wood!

Thoughts anyone?

Andy

Hey Lars, I have purchased three of the Rugers, and they are amont the nicest "value" priced rifles I have ever seen.  Very high quality components and barrel, and also very accurate with minimal deiseling after about 175 shots!  I wish I would have bought a fourth one for myself.  We quickly replaced the included (but not bad by any means) 4x scope that came with the combos with a Wally world Centerpoint, and my kids love the rifles.  Go for it!

I was gonna say I bought one two weeks ago at Sports Authority for $104 but it looks like someone else has done better without going mail/internet order. No waiting when you buy local. Guess I'm just not very patient.

Sportsauthority's cost on the rifles is $89, and I know this because when I bought my three they were mismarked and didn't want to stand by their "20% off" signs.  I bought three for $80 apice and the manager said I walked out the door at $9 under their cost.  I bought all they had but didn't want to push a good thing.

I emailed and talked to one of the reps, apparently these are older models that do not have the scope stop. The newer models like the ones at PA have the scope stop. Anyone who got one with the scope stop, please let me know, otherwise I'll get one at PA.
