Yes because you need to remove the spring......

AS for the memory foam,,, I picked mine up in one of those home craft stores.  They sell curtains, pillows stuff like that,,,, they also sell the material to make your own pillows,,,,,,, including the memory foam.  AS for putting in to much, don't worry about that..... just filled the hollow stock until it's packed in full and you'll be fine.

Any furniture, auto, or marine upholstery shop will have ALOT of small scraps of various types of foam. Many foam distributors are no longer taking back the shops scraps to shread  and recycle, so you can probaly get them for free.

Question, why is it that one shouldn't  use gun barrel cleaning solvent  in a pellet gun barrel,....

..... but it's ok to use an citris based (acidic) cleaner in a steel barrel ?

ok it's not just a steel barrel its because solvent is flammable wich means put that in a springer barrel = boom it will blow your seals and say good bye to your gun. citric is acid based not solvent

Foam comes in blocks and rectanges of various size and thickness, none of which are used in those sizes in the end product.

Since home, auto and boat seating is not block or rectangular, there is ALOT of cutting to shape whatever foam is being used. Dealing with all those scraps winds up being a major head ache and can fill trash cans rather quickly by the end of a weeks work. Any scraps too small to be used as part of a car seat, chair, or boat cushions get tossed.

Many foam distributors used to pick up the scraps during regular deliveries, grind them into small chunks to be used as chopped cushion filler, and give them back to the shops as part of their service. With the cost of doing business going up, suppliers want to sell more new foam so many have dropped that free recycling service.

Blow up the barrel ? Really?

Any gun solvent I've ever used, the instructions say to repeatedly patch the barrels dry until the patches come out clean - no fouling or solvent appearing on the patches. Then oil and dry patch after that until no oil on the patches.

Following the bore cleaner manufacturer's advice, I can't imagine there would be enough of anything left in the barrel to do any harm ?

Not to argue, but I'm curious to know why that procedure would be a problem with a springer. And since that's exactly how I clean mine why it hasn't blown up ............. yet ????    :0

First, solvents like Gun Scrubber, Hoppes No. 9, etc, can diesel like they said.  They also can have harmful effects on the breech and piston seals which may not be made to stand up to them.  Second, your gun will still be a bit loud, even after you tar the spring (and you use very, very little tar - not gobs).  This is just what you get with springers, particularly the magnum class.  That piston is slamming to a stop with tremendous force and the spring is making some noise of its own, too.  Best bet is to stuff the stock with foam, as recommended.

Do get that barrel cleaned.  Any dieseling is hard on the gun's internals.

goto Walmart, buy a $12 memory foam pillow, cut about 1/3 of it off, shape it to the stock and pack it in there. Use the other 2/3 of the pillow to, well, sleep on.

You will have yourself a memory foam stuffed butt ; )

Or, use a bedsheet  :emoticon:
