El Gamo Expo inquiries
« on: May 25, 2009, 01:56:22 AM »
I just recieved two El Gamo rifles from my neighbor to check out for him. Froma search, I found that it's an equivalent to the Daisy 131. Now I'd guesstimate that these rifles are close to 30 years old, and wondered if they have a leather seals (main spring seals), or if synthetic seals were available at that time. I chonyed one of them and it was hitting around 400-425 fps.bothhave identical looking power-plants, with a slightly different stock, and one hasthe octogon 'feinmark' emblem stamped into the breech block close to the serial #. Both are very smooth cocking without anyunhealthy sounds coming from them. Of course, they both need some TLCon the outsides of them,...rust, worn varnish, dents and dings, etc. Any info on these rifles would be appreciated, Thanks, tjk

I have a Daisy 130A (Gamo-Spain) and it has a synthetic seal.  I recently replaced the spring with a JM's "R9,10,11, 77,97,85,95 XLS Hornet Spring".  The spring was a BEAR to install since it was longer than original, but seems to work well.  I didn't replace the seal, but the small Apex Jim sells should also fit.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info George. I openned it up today, and sure enough,..it had a leather seal with a synthetic washer behind it and a washer with a screw holding everything in place. It was pretty gross looking inside with all the old lubes in a thick muddy state,..but we washed everything off real good,..didn't need much deburring at all,..just a pass or two with some 400 grit Emory paper,... and applied the Macarri lubes to it. got it back together and gained about 20 fps for a few shots,..but back down to the 425/430 mark. I decided to pour a few healthy drops of the the infamous "Crosman Silicone Chamber Oil" down the port and let it sit up-right for a few days. I'll post some #'s Wednesday and see if we get any improvement!?!?!?!, tjk
