.25 cal springer
« on: June 01, 2009, 06:42:00 AM »
Looking to get a .25 cal springer. I do not want to spend a whole heck of a lot of money, yet i do not want a piece of junk that wont work, be accurate, or will break before it breaks in. I havent heard very good things about the walther falcon. Any one have input on that rifle in .25? also what would you all suggest as alternatives. I currently own a TF89, and a beeman rs2.  3-12x44 on the TF 4x32 on the beeman. Blind as a bat i need glass to hit anything. So i need a scope suggestion for the .25 cal as well. Thanks guys. Any input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Take it easy and have a good one.

Dane,,there are a few .25 springers that you can get but first decide on you price-range,buying a .25 springer that is only shooting 450fps-500fps is a waiste, the only .25 springer that I would buy is The Webley Patriot(UK only) but I belive that The Theoben Gas-Ram Eliminator is the way to go!! :)   GOOD LUCK! Let us know of your decision! :)

u may want to look at talon tunes and check out aaacondor if u r feady to spend money, power and velocity is what u r going to get otherwise the marauder.22 is a pcp that u cant beat for the price and its functions ,or the blizzard which is .22 but r worth the money ,im also in to power but im not gonna spend so much on a b.s. rifle your best bet is hold on till u really decide what u want cause money is not easy unless you r rich or r well off then go for the aaacondor at talon tunes and speak to tony ....hope this info could help ...good luck diver1488.....jorgie...

Hey diver1488,
I have a Walther in .25; I checked your location to see if you were nearby, I would offer to let you shoot if it were convenient to you.
As you, I studiously read the threads prior to purchasing, so I can offer....
The Patriot, Falcon, and Hatsan are all made by Hatsan (no surprise).
The Walther reports stock splits after a few shots; remedy....remove the stoke screws (they are counter threaded) clean and reinstall with loctite, wait a day or so depending on temp and humidity prior to shooting.  This is standard advice among the heavy recoiling centerfire circuit folks. And it worked for me.
Dont bother with the two-piece scope mount; buy a one-piece mount from the outset...mine is an accushot and it is working for me.
pellets are an issue that I cannot advise on as yet:  I have about 300 thru mine and so far it hasnt liked crow mags or silver stings, it does like eunjin'spehaps as they are tight fitting; it is too early to tell for me.
It wouldnt group at 10m initially; 200 rnds later it groups at 18m, but not bug splat reliability.
It smells when you shoot it!!!  so )being  a chemist I decided to try an experiment, I would shoot and then take a hypodermic and extract the supernatent air from the gas port) extract does smell but I dont know if it reduces the dieseling at all. Kinda cool experiment tho eh?
The scope that came with it isnt up to Leaper standards but it hasnt broken FWIW.
It is enjoyable to shoot as it a tru beast.
For me it was worth the $

The Patriot(UK) is the better gun in .25,,especially with the Gas-Ram installed! The RX2 or The R-1 will not generate enough FP for a .25,,those guns are best in .20! :)
