Link for airgun rated scopes? Need Help...
« on: June 12, 2009, 11:01:58 AM »

I just bought a Simmons ProSport 4X12-50mm AO scope.....but have not installed it yet. The salesman said it was airgun rated....I just want to make sure first...if not, I'm returning it.

I'm trying to find the link that tells which scopes are airgun rated....I think it was Kermit's or StraighShooter....but I don't see it.

Thanks.

Thanks Bentong.  But I don't see them mention any Simmons, CenterPoint or Nikon etc. in it.  I thought there was a link where most scopes would be listed as airgun rated or not.  Maybe I'm wrong.  I'll PM Gene.....I think he had a few Simmons on some of his RWSs.

Better yet....since so many members viewed this post;  Anybody have a Simmons ProSport 4X12-50mm AO scope on a springer.....and did it hold up to the recoil?

I'm planning to put it on a Gamo Viper.  Thanks.

Try this link right here: http://www.kermitairgunclub.com/scopes/.  Not sure if it will help.

Well, just glanced through it and your scope was not listed.  Hope you find the info you were looking for.

Thanks Robert, that's what I was looking for.  Unfortunately the model that I just bought is not listed there....but all the other Simmons (3) that's listed there have a pretty good rating....so I'm going to take a chance and put it on my Viper.  Hopefully the recoil is not too severe to break it.....  Gene have/had some Simmons on his RWSs.....and he had said that they (ProHunter model) held up a few months ago.

Stan, if you can send it back and buy one of the ones that Straightshooters have listed. The ony Simmons Springer Scopes are long gone. They were the Simmons PoAir Scopes. Those can hold up to a medum springer recoil. I have had real good luck with the Bushnell Trophies, Hawk, and BSA scopes. Also the Leapers 5th generation scopes are sturdy.

Thanks Gene, I also got your PM.  I'll return it tomorrow and go to another shop....4 blocks away to see if they've got a Bushnell Banner 4X12-40mm AO.....the one that I originally wanted.
