I posted on yesterday a gp. of 5 shots at 50 yds. which was a quest of mine since i started airgunning some 8 years ago. Yes it took 8 years. The gp. was 5 shots with one hole at the mentioned distance. Today i am sharing the gps. that are more normal for me when i have a shooting session. The Rifles are Beeman's r-9 and hw97k , both in 177 cal and the pellets are cpl's, the rifles pellet of choice. Of course the scopes are bushnell Elite 4200, 6x24x40 and 4x16x40, fine glass for any shooting purpose. I most always shoot the distance of 50 yds., i don't know why i just do. With a dead on at that distance gives me about 1.5 inch high at 30yds. The Group photos by no means show the full potiential of the guns as i have not found out how to totally eliminate the movement that is caused by the beating of my heart which is transfered to my hold and on to the gun. Usually 4 of 5 within 3/4 inch or less is easily accomplished with the fifth pellet landing at least 1/2 inch apart from the gp. Now there was a time that if i hit the bull at all at that distance i was feeling like a sniper, and if i missed i felt like a failure. Over time my skill as an airgun shooter has gotten better, and i learned to get the best results you need the best equipment. Sometimes if i had a bad day of shooting it would give me fits and it would take days to get over it, but that has also lessened greatly over time, but still i do strive for excellance in a sport that has many varibles which are, the shooter, the gun, the mount, the weather, the pellet and its conformity, the hold, the quality of equipment, and the list goes on. So it is with confidence that i say if you can shoot a bull at 50 yds. consistantly with your pellet rifle you have at least taken a huge step in the world of airgunning excellance. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics. and did i mention that the guns are springers, which ups the skill level when compared to pcp or other pellet flingers. I don't want to be a air gun freak i just want to have a hobby that i enjoy and am good at. I really don't want to compete or out shoot anyone, but be able to hit what i aim at when targeting or hunting. fb
