I spent about 3 hours @ Cobra on Friday.....
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly by Gabe (lilysDad621), Dave, and Victor. Gabe and I then spent the next 2+ hours talking about, checking out and firing various rifles. Once I explained that while I was looking for some .22 springer muscle, yet working within certain fiscal guidelines (+/- $300 w/ scope), that narrowed things down a bit. Anyway, after shooting no less that a dozen different rifles, I "pressed the button" on a .22 BAM B-40 and topped her with a Leapers 3-9x32 for not much more than that. Brought her home, mounted and zeroed the scope, and we are getting to know each other. So far, we seem to be getting on pretty well (about 100 rounds through so far, and consistent 1-2" groupings @ 20-25 yds free standing, and .5-1" groupings seated). Some minimal diesleing so far. Lots of pop, and no twangy vibrations, and pretty quiet. She's a rather hefty gal, and I am not exactly dainty myself. A little bit of work to load (snug), but I figure it's just a little getting "used to". This will be fun. Once we've gotten through a tin or two, maybe a tune...... we'll see.
Another "happy ending" @ Cobra. What a pleasure it is to take a 5 minute drive over to the showroom, see friends, meet new people, enjoy the dialogue, see and learn things and check out all of hardware hands on in a comfortable, no pressure environment. I've said it before - I've bought quite a few new rifles over the past few months from Cobra - and Dave has never "sold" me a thing. Dave and the Cobra staff are always happy to answer any questions and offer their informed perspective and opinions, but YOU decide what or if you buy or don't buy. Can't ask for too much than that, in my opinion.
Be Safe, Have Fun, Shoot Well.
Best,
Frank
