Discovery internal regulator mod?
« on: August 29, 2009, 07:37:16 AM »
I'm really considering buying a .22 Discovery later this year.  One concern I have is the shot string velocity is constantly changing.  After reading about Discoveries for HOURS and HOURS on this site, I have never heard anyone mention a regulator.  We use them on our HPA paintball guns all the time.

Has anyone ever installed a regulator in the Disco?  From other people's writings, it looks like 1100-1800psi is where the Disco operates best.  What about installing a regulator with an output of 1100psi or 1200psir ahead of the valve?  I would think this would keep your shots very consistant all the way from a 2000psi fill down to the regulator setting.  I'm thinking 35-40 very consistant shots.

What do you think?

If you build it, it will sell!

I don't know enough about these things to want to fool around with making one, but I would think something could be made to fit in place of the pressure gauge.  I do know though if you get the hammer spring preload and everything just right then the shot strings from that gun can be pretty flat, without a regulator.
