I like the lines of the B-28 but....
« on: August 28, 2009, 01:35:44 PM »
shooting it at full power takes alot of training, I've been at this for a few years now and started out with what then was a magnum rifle, the B-21. i can shoot the mags OK but not great unless I really bear down and get super serious. The big problem with the full power seems to be the recoil so I did one with reduced power for the guys at Xisico, I didn't really break it in but did give it some shooting time. it was alot easier to shoot and was accurate out to 30 yards, thats my limit with open sights...might be able to shoot futher but...the cocking effort was greatly reduced and the velocity came down some also (800 fps in .177??) If anyone is interested in one with reduced power let me know, please don't ask what I did to the rifle, This is one I kind of want keep to myself.....let me know what you think....

Have not been able to see anything past the end of the barrel for years. Open sights are out for me..:) But hang a good scope on a good basic shooter I can see out to 50 yards..:) I have gone from heavy long barreled magnums to light weight shooters and back to heavy carbines. At this point Mike I love the carbines. I shoot allot of the RWS 350's and they have good power but just to barrel heavy for this old fart..:)

You are right about really concentrating to shoot those magnums. It took me a while to get a 1" group at 30 yards with my old Gamo 1250 .22 but it was worth it. Finally my shoulders give in to the heavy cocking and sold it. Now I am satisfied with shooters that shoot in the 800 fps range. I am not a hunter so I do not need that kind of power. Will leave that to all the great hunters here on the GTA and other forums..:)

And it seems you and I are on the same page about sharing all oursecrets Mike..:)

I did a short barrel B-28, it shoots good but it also lost the balance point on the stock, shifted back a bit. I have retro arms, made for helping me walk so a short balance point is a real pain. The Doc told me the knuckles would be better once I quit using them to walk but they still look ugly...nothing like a good swing through the trees....

:D Hi Mike, I have no problem shooting my B28.  Bought from you lube tuned. Shoots 905 FPS with RWS Superdomes.  I have about 400 rounds thru it now since I solved my scope rail shift problems.  One of my friends gave me some double sided tape..made in Germany.  I dont know where he got this from. But I cleaned up the area with alky and used a q-tip with alky to swab out the screw holes.  I pressed this tape into the rail with my thumb nail. And screwed the rail back on the receiver...tight.  I let it sit about five days.  I then mounted a UTG, zero droop mount meant for the rws 350 mag. It fits perfectly.  Used UTG low weave mounts with a Leapers 3-9 x 44 scope. 30mm tube and I've been happy ever since. Thanks Mike. CHINAGUNNER

Why reduce the power of a B28?  Please correct me if Im wrong but wouldnt that put it in a similar power class as a B26? The B26 also has a shorter lock time, correct?  Just curious because Im going to buy a rifle from you just trying to narrow down my options.  Thank you for your time

I have it back together and it shoots around 700 fps in .177. like you say it does have a longer stroke, but is much easier to cock and somewhat less hold sensitive...
