Shadow's just getting started
« on: March 09, 2007, 12:08:58 PM »
Popped out to my dad's today to check on the farm, he's out of town.I also wanted to check on my arch enemy, Mr fox. I pulled up into the drive, scanned the area, all still except for two bushytails sitting on the cattle fence. Once again, BIG mistake I thought to myself as I loaded a Gamo Master Point into my truck gun, the B3.177. Slipping from the truck  I dropped to the snow covered ground" man that's cold" and made my way to about 30yrd's before I was noticed. I could tell that they were getting ready to bolt so I pulled her up, set the crosshairs. ONE DOWN! Now thinking the other one would really move but NO.? Bushytail number two just sat there and cussed out the first one for being so dumb. Mistake number two. I chambered another one and.... Pic's tell the rest.

Great job Ed !!  That pic got my blood stirring for sure :)

I thought of you today. I had to take my oldest daughter into New York City today for a graduate school interview.  We  were sitting in a nice little park right in front of city hall, enjoying the sunshine even though it was brutally cold and windy,,,, and here were these HUGE pigeons, I'm talking monster pigeons, clustered all around us waiting for us to feed them.  We didn't have any food for them but they just kept hanging around us.  I swear, these things looked like small chickens !!  As I was sitting there  fantasizing about drilling 8.5 gr tomahawk pellets into these monster pigeons I immediately thought how if you were sitting there you'd be having the same thoughts I was having.

I leaned over and told my daughter that I knew a fellow airgun hunter in South Dakota who would love this sight as much as I did.

Congrats on those squirrels.  Fine shootin.

Jeff

It's funny that you mention the "officer" part because this little park was directly in front of NY City Hall and they had a very large imposing Police officer standing guard at the main entrance, about 75 feet away from me and the monster pigeons, and he was standing at his post with a 9mm automatic on his hip and an M-16 slung over his shoulder.

I wonder if he was having the same thoughts I was with regard to the pigeons???  :)

I kept picturing them with large strips of bacon wrapped around them, with herb butter being basted over them, the skin slowly bubbling and turning golden brown under the broiler,,, oh man,,,, I gotta go make some lunch.  See ya later.   :)
