not sure where to post this..........(1st gen 1377 )..
« on: October 22, 2009, 01:55:13 PM »
since id rather ask here than on the yellow,.....

i was just handed a 1377 carbine by a buddy, seals are shot as it wont build any pressure at all. so heres the kicker, this is a firts generation 1377 with the sliding breech cover and pull to cock knob out back.
are any of the later 1377 steel breeches compatible ? ideally, id like to add a longer barrel, steel breech and a lube/trigger tune. i hate to shelve this one...........it looks like too much fun if i can get here up and working.

thanks guys !!

I believe the new steel breaches and the RJ Machine breach will fit. I'm not sure about the valve though. New valves are made of aluminum, older ones were brass. I don't know if the dimensions are the same.

If they are, there's a guy on EBay that has 13xx valves for around 8 bucks shipped.

Here are the approximate measurments for outside of a new style aluminum valve:

Length (minus valve stem): 2.58"

Overall Length: 3.068"

Diameter: .616"

Valve stem length (portrusion from valve) : .500

Valve stem diameter: .123"

Exhaust port center to outter rear face of valve (where the stem sticks out): .300 - .315"

Exhaust port diameter: .155 - .158"

Inlet cone Base Diameter: .480"

Inlet cone end diameter: .100"

Inlet cone length: .300"

Screw hole center to outter rear face (stem sticks out here too hehe) : 2.00 - 2.095"

These aren't EXACT measurments (calipers are cold & warming up! and have low battery) but they're pretty close!

Jim; I found this answer over at the Crosman forum . I copied and pasted it here . I think it answers your questions . kirby THE 1760-XXX BARREL IS FROMA 1760 MODEL 177 CALIBER C02 WOODEN STOCK AIRGUN. IT IS LONGER THAN THE 1377 BARREL AND ALLOWS YOU TO CUT IT TO YOU DESIRED LENGTH,UP TO 24". THE CROSMAN STEEL BREECH IS SUPPLIED WITH A NEW BOLT AND THREADED HANDLE. THE STEEL BREECH REQUIRES THE USE OF A THREADED HANDLE FOR INSTALLATION PURPOSES. THE THREADED HANDLE IS BLUED, NOT BRASS , BUT THE BOLT IS BRASS AND WILL ACCEPT OTHER THREADED HANDLES. THE BARREL GOES INTO THE BREECH ALL THE WAY UP TO AND PAST THE TRANSFER PORT. THE NEW BREECH WONT FIT THE OLDER VERSIONS OF 1377 WITH THE SLIDING BREECH COVER BECAUSE THE MOUNTING HOLE IS IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION. IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO SOME TOOLING YOU CAN PROBABLY MAKE IT FIT, BUT I AM UNSURE.

Check my "Bayou 1377" thread, that one had a slide breech and fitting a bolt breech was no problem
