Check out the MF19-125-yellow in drop-in format

Looks like that will fit a quest and/or Daisy/Winchester/Hatsan. Need to be sure that the stroke is limited so that the impact at the end of the stroke is not taken by the end of the cylinder.  Toss out the top hat, turn two bushings for the cylinder and a centering washer with a bearing surface for the actuating rod to replace the top hat.

I wanted to experiment with this, but the economy & medical expenses have killed my play money for a while.

They look the same as a gas spring used in a air gun..BUT
are a totaly diffrent animal....I  have used them to replace
compression springs in blanking & forming tools for crank presses
where they are used for componet ejection...
There return is to slow...after all the last thing yer need is blanked
or formed componets being shot out of a pressing tool...

NOW in saying all that there may well be a version that can/will return with
enough force to work in a air gun....I have never needed to look for one..

The idea has merit..Now just fined the right version/appliacation..
Around 140 pounds of return force is required..on avarage

Some of the Theoben guns had power level adjustments.  I should think that an air gun gas ram (not the strut type) would also be like "tunable" in that they can be rebuilt, hence, are rechargeable.

I finally got to talk to Paul.  The entire vessel is pressurized. The ouput force is developed by the displacement of the ram in the cylinder.  There's no internal valving, no internal seal (I was expecting a low pressure side with valving to the atmosphere to control the rate of extension) and no control on the speed.  He tests them at 200 strokes/minute for 100,000 cycles.  Some of his units are stored compressed for 6 months at a time with no deterioration.  But, he couldn't tell me if it would be fast enough to throw a pellet.  

My Daisy spring exerts 200#'s @ mid stroke.  The MF19-125-yellow would put out 230#'s 2 mid stroke, but would it be fast enough?
