Going to Keep it-sorry
« on: October 14, 2009, 04:22:43 AM »
I bought a refurbished Air Hawk from Cabelas for around $75.  To this I added a JM mainspring, and I had Mike Melick tune it up.  Those two things cost me around $100, so I have 175+ in the gun.  For some reason me and this gun don't mesh so I'm going to sell it.  I'd like to get a $100 for it, but I'll likely take less.  I still have the original Air Hawk scope on the rifle.  The good thing is it likes cheap pellets better than better ones!  I just use it for a plinking gun.

If you are interested I'll send pictures, but it has a nice wooden stock.  Because of the tune it cocks smoothly and quietly.  The trigger has been adjusted as well.  I can't shoot it as it is so different from my 350 and my Whisper.  The same holds and stuff don't work on it.  I'll take a 100 for it and I'll pay for the shipping.

I went out and messed with it today.  It is raining like crazy here!  I was able to shoot from 12 yards exactly.  The first one was my warmup group.  The second picture is of the last group I shot before it got too to raining any harder.  The dot in the middle is the size of a .22 pellet so you can see it is shooting pretty well at 12 yards.  The flyer was me as I didn't have a really good rest and yanked the trigger a bit.

Lastly, there are two views of the gun.  Right now it has a Gamo scope on it, but I'll put the Air Hawk scope back on it before I send it off.

Going to keep it.  I realized one of my friend's owes me money so instead of selling this to finance it, I'll just use the "found" money. :)

To answer some questions.  It has gotten more and more accurate since the tune.  Since Mike worked on it, it has been smooth as butter.

I think that's great Randy. I glad I'm not the only one around here that changes my mind and decides to keep one of our babies . kirby

Randy,

Good for you.  It actually looks like a nice shooter.  With Mike's touch and a JM spring I was still tempted even though it was .17.  I sure hope my new Quest project comes out half as nice as I'm sure your Ruger is!
