Yes, It has the same powerplant. Just an underlever. Shanghai Air Guns make the AR1000 Magnum (TF89) and the AR3000 Hunter Series(TF87). Richard/thebookdoc has tried the TF87 thinking it was based on the AR2000. He said it was a hard hitting gun, but he wanted the AR2000, not the AR3000, so he returned it. It is heavier than the TF89 breakbarrel.

Hope I helped.

thanks,
I've been looking at the refurb. walther force 1000 at sportsman's guide for $75 shipped.  Supposed to be the same as the tf89...hard to resist the price.  Bookdoc has one coming in the next few days.  I'll try and wait to see what he says about it.
     thanks, Scott

Yes, it is a clone. I don't know the quality though.... i.e. the Hammerli Titan is another AR1000 clone, so are a lot of the Beeman guns. Check and see about the details. The internals may be the same, but the outside can be different. The TF89 has checkering and fiber optic sights.... the Hammerli Titan has no checkering... Gene's review of the Titan, being that it is a clone, is essentialy a reivew of the AR1000 clones...

EDIT: I forgot to add that I asked Gene which was his favorite AR1000 clone, and at the time, he said the TF89.

EDIT again..... Here is another AR1000 clone review..... Beeman S1.....

Yes, that's why I'm holding off...I was wondering about the quality also.  Maybe the tf89's are handpicked for compasseco and the other "clones" are seconds.  thanks for the links.
