Air Arms S410 or S410 carbine?

Hi everyone! Have not posted here for a while. I was tied up with me and my family moving to upstate  New York from California. Live close to Kingston now.  Now I am not Californian anymore.
Well, my question is; I was looking at this rifle in both configurations( regular size and carbine size) and wanted to receive your feedback on them.
I know and I have read that AA S410 is awesome rifle but I really like it to be short. On the PyramydAir website they state that cabine version has the same velocity in .22cal as in full size rifle.
But I have hard time believing it since the barrel is shorter. I like it short but still pushing 18gr pellets at 900-950fps. Is carbine version as powerful as full size?
Any experieces?

Thats sounds about right...
think of it this way...
the barrel on the carbine isn't to short...
but the barrel on the full size is too long...
Once the air has stoped exspanding..
"206 times at 3000psi"
any extra barrel length is just slowing the pellet
from the extra drag/friction..

Why than they have gun in both configurations? Could have just make carbines if regular size rifle  barrel is too long and it creating drag on the pellet, right?

People expect a long barrel.....Since the year dot guns have had long barrel &
the preception is that a gun has a longish barrel....but most air guns don't need
the long barrel..PCP..depends on the amount of air that the valve releases how
long the barrel needs to be....Build for the market....2 designs and you cover both bases..
Yep its all marketing...plain and simple............
My Career Infinity has a carbine barrel covered with a shroud that is 200mm
longer than the barrel...looks like a standard gun..
and it tosses a 14.5g @ 1220fps

Sorry, Peter, but I've got to disagree with you on this one.  The AA PCP's have plenty of power to utilize the full length of a 24" barrel, so there's no way the carbine is going to produce the same velocity as the rifle.  This has to be another of the PA typo's, their web site is riddled with them.  And oddly enough, it doesn't look like they've ever actually tested a 4XX, none of the velocity figures have that little gray box that gives a pellet weight tested pop up.  Not sure which is right, but I suspect the 920 is a factory velocity for the rifle.  Based on my experience with my .177 400, it's understated, actual velocity is probably going to be higher with the right pellet.  I'd say if you like a carbine, go for it.  You're probably only going to be giving up just a few fpe, and at the power level of these guns, that really isn't going to matter.  Later.

I don't remember exactly where I got these numbers a few months ago;

AA S410SL XTRA FAC - 829 to 974fps  (27 to 30 FPE)

AA S410SL FAC Carbine - 693 to 873fps (21 to 30 FPE).....Obviously the 30 FPE should be wrong since the speed is 100fps slower than the regular version.

AA 410 TDR (Take Down Rifle) - 540 to 662fps (8 to 14 FPE)

Above models are in .22 caliber.  I have the carbine version and wished that I had gotten the regular version.....nothing wrong with it....but the regular version can give you a few more shots, abit quieter and more pellet speed due to the longer barrel.  But with the carbine version it's lighter and more easier to move around in the bush and/or woods.  Hope this helps you out abit.....
