How about a Moth Ball Gun?
« on: December 13, 2009, 10:56:22 AM »

Was thinking I need to go under my house and put some moth balls everywhere to keep the cridders out. I do not like crawling around anymore and especialy under a house with all kinds of creepy crawly things all around..:)

Any ideas on a good moth ball shooter that will shoot 20 yards or so?

Paintball gun might work depending on the diameter of the moth balls.

A slingshot also might work.  Cheaper too.

If I lived closer brother I would go on crawl, stalk and terminate patrol for you hehe. My step son has a big critter living in his attic and I'll be heading over there to do some attic patrol for him. :)  :) Ed

I had borers infest one of my large old lilacs by the front porch. The books said that moth crystals sprinkled around the base would keep them away. Tried it. Kept the borers away and smelled so strong it kept just about anything that breathed away. Had to scrape all the crystals up and soak the area. Just be sure those moth balls aren't too strong smelling or you'll be crawling under there, yourself.

I've made a line launching gun out of PVC..  3 inch, 1 ft long for the resevoir, end cap, and a reducer completeling it, a pvc ball valve, then chose a cliber...  :)   I'm sure you can go from there..

Gage from Harbor Freight, schrader valve for filling...   I've gone from 15 psi for a short shot,   (60ft high over a samll tree) to 75 yds, at at least 125 ft high  with 70 psi..  Look up potatoe gun and scale accordingly...

I use mine with pvc end caps and coupler, for throwing lines over trees for wire antenna supports...  best system I've ever used in 25+ yrs as a HAM...

The ball valve does dump all the air,  but refilling is easy..
