Pearl Harbor Day. 2009
« on: December 06, 2009, 04:17:47 AM »
Tomorrow is December 7, 2009.   Pearl Harbor Day.  I plan to fly the flag of the United States of America in my front yard.  To Remember and Honor those that fought for this country.

Others may forget, but I won't.   Others may forgive, but I won't.   Some say " get over it".  But I won't.

Never Forget,  Never Forgive.
Gentleman of Fortune.

Hum-bug!

Thanks for the reminder Mike,

And for those young members that have never heard of, or know why we Remember Pearl Harbor Day:

It was December 7,1941, when the Japanese Navy performed a cowardly sneak attack on our Navy Base at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. Their unannounced attack and declaration of War against the United States of America destroyed 4 Battleship, 3 Cruisers, 3 Destroyers and 1 Minelayer ship. They destroyed 188 aircraft mostly sitting on the runway, and worst of all, murdered 2,402 personnel, as well as wounding another 1,282 !!!!!

68Years ago tomorrow we remember the loss and sacrifice of our comrades, friends, and fellow Americans that gave so much trying to defend our Pacific Fleet for this terrible sneak attack !

Franklin D. Roosevelt (our President at the time of this attack), Proclaimed that December 7, 1941 Would be a Date which will Live in Infamy!

So FLY YOUR FLAGS PROUDLY TOMORROW, AND REMEMBER THE BRAVE MEN THAT GAVE THEIR LIVES AND BODIES TO SAVE OUR FLEET DURING THIS COURDLY ATTACK ON OUR PACIFIC FLEET AT PEARL HARBOR HAWAII, 68 YEARS AGO !!!

SALUTE ...............

I was stationed at Pearl Harbor for a couple of years and was barracked in the old while hospital building on Ford Island. Used to fish off the overturned wreck of the USS Utah (now, thankfully, a memorial). Shot my Benjamin 132, which I still have, plinking on the old air strip. Drank many a brew at the Arizona (or, as it was popularly known, "A") Club. The Arizona always has an oil slick above it as the the tanks are still leaking after all these years. When you walk around Ford Island, you can see small square brass plaques with a falling bomb in the center and information about what used to be there (sick bay, for example) when the bomb hit.
