pellet loader??

Has anyone ever used  a "pen" pellet loader on an underlever or side lever rifle?

I was out shooting starlings today standing in 2 feet of snow and my fingers got so cold I couldnt feel the pellet in my fingers.
I did get a couple from about 70 yds!!!  2 out of 30 shots.

Can you get in straight with that? It might be easier if you had a "speed strip" such as those made by Bianchi used for revolvers.
Yes, I know they don't make them for pellets... but I'd be you could make your own pretty easy, kinda like a single row version of a Phillips pellet holder, but thinner, so you can push on the back of the holder, which in turn would push the pellet into the chamber.

The standard stick-type tire pressure gauge, while a little heavy has a nice round surface to flush a pellet once you have the round-end in the breech.

The round ended sizzle sticks get brittle in the cold.

You just need a small rounded implement really.  Use your imagination!  You'll find a great flusher in time.

I did a search here and see others have wondered the same thing as me.

Really I just want to have something to get the pellet to the breech hole and then I can apply the last push.

But I found picking up a pellet even with flip gloves my fingers were so cold my decsterity was shot and starling flying all over the place!!!

Any one tried on of these things in fixed barrel?

Compasseco sells a "pellet pen" for .177 pellets in break-barrel guns.

You want to load pellets into a port loading rifle yes? And it can get a little fiddly down in the port in cold weather right?

I had this idea last night... this morning actually. If your handy with tools, get yourself a piece plastic sheet about .030" - .040" thick. Nylon, Teflon, Delrin... that kind of thing.

Cut it so it's about 3-4 inches long and about 3/4" inch wide. Drill a hole in one end, about 5/32". Using a round file, open up that hole so a pellet goes thru it with a bit of drag... not enough to distort the pellet, just enough so that the pellet can't fall thru on it's own.

Next... cut a slot from that hole. A slot wide enough so that a pellet waist will fit into the slot and slide back and forth with a bit of drag.

There ya' go... load the pellets into it from the hole until it's full, then feed each pellet from the slot to the hole... push the pellet directly from the hole to thebreach chamber.

This is all theoretical on my part... and I don't know exacty what yourbreach port looks like,butthismight work.

I have one of the pellet pencils they sell on Arizona air guns. It works just fine so far. It actually helps keep the pellet skirt flared out and makes the fit real good. For $5.95 you can't beat it. Holds 10 pellets and fits in your shirt pocket.

Do you use it with a fiixed barrel (under/side lever)?

I tried a pen for size and alignment and it seems like it may work.  For the price...what the heck!!
