FINALLY! Got to do some flying today!
« on: January 24, 2010, 11:00:57 AM »
I got a Parkzone Ultra-Micro P-51 a while back. But it's been too windy and rainy out to fly it. So, I've just been charging the batteries and Taxiing around the living room every other day or so for the past few weeks.

Today we got a break in the weather. Overcast and a little cold, but NO RAIN and NO WIND!!! WOO HOO!!!  Got my 2 year old son and headed off to the park to do some flying!

Man! This little plane is AWESOME!!!  It's only got a wingspan of around 16 inches, so it's pretty small. But it flies beautifully! 4 channel with rudder, elevator throttle and ailerons. It's a really nice looking and scale flyer.  My son couldn't get enough of it! I buzzed him a couple times and he just laughed his butt off.

Yup! This is one of the funnest planes I've ever flown!

I dunno what it is, but Micro & Peanut scale planes are more entertaining that the big stuff. I've got a nice P-51D with a 40 sum-odd-inch span and it isn't anywhere near as fun as this micro jobbie!

The rain & wind kicked up a couple hours ago... Weather report says it'll continue into next week. Bummer!

What part of Washington? I was stationed at Sub Base Bangor a while back. I was only there for a little while, but I got to see quite a bit!

Glad you had a fun time with your son and your little plane.  Those things are fun....I drove a RC helicopter a very long time ago.  My friend and I attached a little hook at the bottom of it and tried to pick up things....small pails,  Tonka Trucks etc.

This summer i watched a group of guys flying them. I was amazed at the pretty low cost to get into them. I had the big RC stuff years ago. I might give it a try this summer. If I can find the time.

Glad to hear you had a good time with your son.
Its either been raining or windy here for like the past 2 months.
I keep most of my planes on trickle charge so I'm always ready to go.
Its really amazing how far the micro stuff has come in the past 3 years.
At least I still have my handbuilt one of a kind custom rockcrawler to play with when I can't fly.
Glad to hear there are other fly nuts around here.

Yup! There's a few of us!

With the 2 Micro Planes and little palm sized heli, my big planes seem to be getting lonely! hahaha My scratch building has dropped off too. No more "Experimental" posterboard planes! The wife seems to be happy about that.

I never really got into RC Cars, I got a RadioShack XMods a couple years ago. It was fun for a while. Now it just sits on the shelf. The FUNNEST land vehicle I had was an all metal King Tiger tank that I bought while I was stationed in Japan. It was almost 4 feet long. Ran on 2  .18  Glo engines, metal tracks with rubber pads, skid steer and the whole 9. It had a functional barrel that would shoot a marble about 10 yards or so. The guy that had it before me set it up with a small diaphram pump to inject oil into the mufflers for smoke screens! LoL

The thing was so heavy that I had to build a ramp to DRIVE it in and out of my truck. Dang I wish I still had that thing. It's probably worth an arm and a leg now.

Ha, yeah I know what you mean.
Since I've become addicted to airguns, I've all but quit building planes.
And I used to be out in the garage at least 2 nights a week and part of saturday working on something that had to do with flying.
I've flown tons of stuff. Heli's, blimps, jets, parasails, biplanes, foamies, balsa, tiny micro electrics and glow along with giant size gas.
Its been the only hobby thats kept my attention for nearly 22 years.
But I have to admit, airguns have really swayed my thoughts here lately.
I really love to hunt and have since I was 9 years old.
And the airguns give me the ability to have that hunting feeling all year long.
I'm really wanting to build a big bore 44, 45, or 50 caliber gun.
