Guide set No3
« on: January 23, 2010, 09:44:16 AM »
Hi..
Been playing with diffrent weight top hats
to see what the diffrents is...

The top set ...has a top hat 20 grams lighter than standard set..
It gives a very smooth fireing cycle with little recoil..
shooting in the 600/650 fps range at a guess.."no crony"

Bottom set....Has a top hat 25 grams heavyer...lot more power than
the standard set.."centre"..Recoil is harsher but still not as bad as I thought
it would have been..still very smooth..think the tyvar sleeve's have a lot to do with that..
Power wise it hits dam hard..lot harder than with the standard guide set....
maybe shooting 950 fps..????

For the heavy set I had to move the spring 15mm rearwards..

Pete,  not being an expert, what AG did you make these up for?   Kind of looks like it could be a Crosman.

Your work looks good.  How do those metal washers come into play?

Gentleman of Fortune.

Hum-bug!

Opps....
Its for a .177 kral underlever...CFX copy

Those 2 washers go at the spring ends to stop them digging into the
tyvar sleeves... The tyvar disc goes between the top hat & piston
to let the spring/top hat rotate...reduce friction..

That's very good work making those top hats and "what you might call it" rear spring guides.  Fun to have tools for projects and experimentation.
Gamo: Expotec .177 + Big Cat .177 + Viper .177 + Whisper .177, Hammerli Titan .177, Diana model 24 .177, RWS-Diana P5 Magnum pistol .177, Crosman: G1 Extreme .177 + Storm XT .177 + Sierra Pro .177 + 1377 pistol .177, Air Arms S410SL .22, BSA Scorpion T10 .22, FX Cyclone .177, Remington Air Master 77 .177 + BB\'s,

If you are getting over 900 fps that is one smoking Kral! Be interesting to see how it holds up. After looking at the design and reading a lot of posts on the CFX and BSA, I'm inclined to think that breech doesn't like the higher pressure levels. Are you using the modified o-rings or stock? (Maybe the Kral actually has a superior breech, LOL! I DO like those Krals!)
