Scuba? tank......or ???
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:01:36 PM »
Have run across a rig which includes a BCD, free dive vest, and tank.  What would it take to make this suitable for pre charged use?  Don't know the volume of the tank yet but looks to be about 7" od and about 18" to top of neck, if that.

As usual, new waters I am paddling in so all info is welcome.

if you're wanting to use the SCUBA to charge a PCP, you'll need the adapter from SCUBA to your particular PCP. tank volume is subjective...i have the 80cuft and it's more than adequate to feed my AF Talon for multiple fills...(i also have the hand pump that came with the 'package' i purchased the AF Talon with.)

IMO...it's hard to beat having SCUBA AND hand pump capabilities...

Just make sure of the hydro date and max fill Pressure. Some of the older steel tanks were only good for 2400 PSI. The pressure and mfg date will be stamped on top of the tank. Usually a hydro is needed every 3 - 5 yrs App $ 35 - 50
I know there is a fine line between a hobby and an obcession, to bad I sped over it at about a hundred !!
