Before I cause another disaster...
« on: February 03, 2010, 01:57:19 PM »
I'm going to make a better tool for tuning my Titan.  Is there anything I need to know?  Is it any different than the TF 89?

I was using it with open sights. Today I put a scope on it for the first time.  It is scattering shots all over the place.  It can still hit tin cans, but that is about it.

The TF 89 has smoothed out a bit after the lubrication.  I shot about 200 pellets through it today. I still don't know why I had to shim the scope unless its velocity just went up that much after the lube?

I've got to say the Titan does seem to hit harder than my Air Hawk or my Whisper.  However it is a LOT harder to cock and to shoot!  Maybe the lubrication will help it out.

the tool will be a piece of 1/2 in black pipe sawn half way down  about 2 1/2 inches down oal. will be about 4 inches long. the cocking slot on these things is too naarrow needs to be widened with a file. quite a bit in some places mine narrowed about .060 thou in the middle the shoe needs to be tuned up a bit too. probably getting a lot of binding in that area.
benji superstreaks .22, both fully tuned and modded with seals and springs and custom internals. hammerli titan .177, fully tuned and custom shroud. and the addiction continues...

The first thing that springs to mined is...If the cocking slot is narrower in the centre its because the
tube has compressed when the slot was cut due to the releaf of tenstion..So the tube must be tighter
in the centre...less piston to tube clearance...Open the slot back up by pressing it open...
if possable....
