Fox's are crafty little critters.. They learn fast.. Just hope that she just got full and left, and didnt hear your light getting turned on...I know how hard they are to trap... Make one mistake and you gota make your set totally different and use different baits/lures to have it come in again... Usually when i'm deer hunting i get 1 shot at a fox all season long, every year... just 1 shot,, and their at the most difficult spots of all, but that's always the way it is...last year i had a a fox run the field about 100 yards away from me.. stop come running back down, come down the stone wall come past me at 15 yards (I was in a tree) I went into full draw (i was using a compound bow),, stopped at 15 yards to drink some water, slight quartering to shot,,, only probablem was, was that there where some sticks in the way,,, It then jumps the creek and goes up on the other side,, stops behind a tree, so i get up, and lean front, and the stand squeaked a little,, so she jumped back across the creek again,, stops at 35 yards to scrach her fleas and i had to shoot as it was gona be my last chance,,and my arm was getting tired of holding my bow back a full draw for 1:30min ( I was video taping it, thats how i know how long it was) so i let a 550grain 30inch arrow down range,, heard her bark/grunt (which they will usually do when you hit them) got down from the stand,, found a whole bunch of hair... and only 1 drop of blood.... what i didnt see when i shot was 1 little twig which threw my arrow off just 6inches... Live and learn i guess..

Though I gota admit that shooting a fox at 20 yards with a airgun is a big task!!.. Well the sneaking, window,, light... not the airgun themselves... Foxes i think are easier to kill then coons...on a 1-10 scale,,,with coon being a 10... fox is about a 6.. with rabbits being at a -2 ...lol

This is the little buger that took me

Wow that was a good story about the fox Cody!  Too bad for that little twig..  Things are never perfect and the way we want them, right?
I don't know if a fox is hard to shoot than a coon since it has a much bigger head than a coon, dog-like head, unless I was looking at a coyote (I am still not 100% certain it was a fox cause I saw it mostly in the dark).  Its head covered most of the 11" diameter bowl.  Anyway I think the coon in general has a much smaller head.  The fox's head/skull is a bigger in proportion with its body.  I am talking head shots only.  With a body shot, I 'm sure you are right.  The fox would be easier to kill than a raccoon.

But with a 90fpe Condor they are both pretty easy to take, especially at only 22yds.  I think the possum could be the hardest to take down with an airgun if the shot placement is not 99-100% where it needs to be on the head.

Hey Harry,,,,  I thought of you today.....

I'm up in Allegany County visiting my daughter for her birthday and today while driving on a mountain road I saw a roadkill red fox on the side of the road.  He was was gorgeous and he didn't look all torn up either.  I seriously thought about pulling over and at least retrieving the tail but the traffic prevented it.....   Beautiful animal, a shame for it to meet it's end in such a way......

Yes, what a shame to go like that.. the last thing it should have met was a .22 or .25cal pellet from one of our rifles.  What a shame  :)

I have actually never seen a road-kill fox on the side of the road.  Plenty of coons, possums & G-hogs, but never a fox.  That was probably a rare find.  They are beautiful animals.
