squirrels calls....

Anyone here have any luck with these. I was thinking of purchasing one, but only if one of you guys have used them with success.

I use my squirrel call all the time and it's  great tool to have on my hunts.  Like anything else it doesn't always work, but most times it works very well and enables me to locate squirrels, get them to come out of their nests or dens and even get them to aggressively respond and actually come to within range of my sniping location  

If you're serious about squirrel hunting do yourself a favor and get one an practice with it.  During the off season I'll sit on my deck in the backyard and practice on the local nutters.   I prefer to calls with the rubber bellows that you tap on but there are different types available.

I also use Squirrel calls with good success and as Jeff mentioned spend some time Practicing with them. The two nutters below fell pray to my call which got their attention and drew them in. Ed

i use one as well.  i  have the primos and it came with a cd....this allows you to practice the correct way to call....they are fun and do work....

I've had one of the rubber bulb type like in Shadow's picture  but no luck with it until Jeff gave me some pointers. Now, one or two taps and I've got Grays I hadn't spotted are out in plain site, barking back at me.

Now, it's fun to use it. After a few minutes they quiet down - couple more taps and they go right back to barking.

It's very Pavlovian !!!

I'll practice on the yard squirrels, as of now they get a free pass. But if i don't come up with one from the woods soon, I may have to cut loose with the disco. Still haven't been able to take one out yet with it. This morning there were 3 in the yard at once. I think i already shot the stupid ones..... they saw me walk past the sliding glass door with a cup of coffee and ran. Maybe they don't like coffee...Like i said before the last few years around here were crazy, and i shot alot of squirrels that were being pests. I never realized they would smarten up so quick....now they are just as smart if not smarter than the wild ones i hunt.. I used to be able to tree them in the back tree and shoot them. Now if they see me coming with the gun, they run down the tree, and into the neighbors yard where they know they are safe.
