RWS LP8 Tune
« on: February 21, 2010, 04:39:16 PM »
Has anybody out there disassembled or tuned an LP8?  Does anyone know who supplies seals/springs other than RWS, or what available parts may interchange?

Also looking for some guidance on disassembly.  I was unable to remove the ambidextrous safety levers in order to disassemble the pistol for deburring and a lube tune.  The hex socket screws on the safety are extremely tight or bonded.

I would also like to lighten up the trigger a bit.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the help Kiwi.  I've order parts/kits from Jim Maccari before, and I watch his site for new products.  The LP8 is still pretty new, Jim Maccari doesn't sell kits for them yet, at least as far as I can tell, unless springs and seals for other models might interchange. That I can wait for, but I really want to deburr the insides, do a lube tune, and lighten the trigger up.

I tried taking the pistol apart, but the safety levers are held on with hex socket screws that started to strip out when I tried backing them out.  I assume they are loctited.  If anyone has any tips on this in particular, it would be much appreciated.  If push comes to shove, I can drill them out and replace the affected parts, but I hardly think that should be necessary.

Thanks.
