Thanks, Jorge, but we are OK in Southern Cal. I was on the John Deere mower and didn't even know it happened until Julie came out of the house and yelled at me. Apparently the house got a good 15 second rattling, but no harm done up here. Some windows broke in downtown San Diego.

I think it was much harder on folks in Mexicali. Our turn will come!

Earthquakes...

I was at my Grandmother's house in Upland, California, and to be honest it felt like being on a cruise ship in turbulent waters.  It swayed the pond in the back yard and the pond along the fairway of the golf course that she lives on.  The chandelier in the livingroom swayed a bit as well.  For me though having been a veteran of Northridge, Big Bear/ Landers, Whittier, and when up north for the San Simeon quake a few years back this one was different.

It was obvious to me that the epicenter wasn't close by because when you ARE close to the epicenter the rigidity of the quake is felt much much more.  This one was more of a long slow sway but to my perception lasted longer than the others I've felt.  Kinda like experiencing the latter waves in the wake of an oil tanker 200 yards away when in a smaller skif boat.

As stated above I have to agree with Dave...  that we aren't done yet.  CalTech can tell us all they want that the Mexicali fault is of no relation to San Andreas but the one they aren't talking about is the thrust fault that lies between Chino, Whittier, Brea and the 60 freeway in this region.  THAT's the one that'll spur havoc in the greater Los Angeles area and in turn may trip the southern half of the San Andreas fault.

I dunno.  I'm driving back to Las Vegas tomorrow.  I'm not gonna be around for anything of greater magnitude because frankly, I've been through too many.  I'm retired.
