GREAT day of fishin!!!
« on: April 28, 2007, 04:48:53 PM »
Me and my brother in law's got a wild hair up our butts at 7 this morning to go fishin. So we got our gear and bait then headed out. Got to Berkeley Pier at 10 to 9 and got set up and fishin by 20 after.

Not TEN minutes from the first cast, Marv snagged two whitefish on the same litre. Waited another 45 minutes....Not another bite. So we switch from High/Low bottom rigs to a drop rig with a decent sized float and four #10 hooks baited with Pile Worm. HELL! We were there for another two hours and caught close to 45 Whitefish and 2 Kingfish that snapped up the whitefish that Martin was pullin in!

After the whitefish stopped biting we switched to Carolina Rigs and tried using some of the live whites for bait to catch stripers or more kings. No luck on those, but I got a good sized Halibut that took off under the pier and snapped my line just as I got it to the surface.

The Whitefish were from 8-12" and the two kings we got were both over 19" and close to 7 pounds each... All in all, it was a good day!!!
We're goin back tomorrow mornin'  :o

Thanks Bill! A Pile Worm is a Green worm that looks similar to a millipede. On the head end it's got 2 black pinchers that come out whilst it tries to bit whatever is screwin with it! I'm not sure if it's only a california thing or not. I'm pretty sure if there's  saltwater fishin around, there's pile worms.

Hay Sam,

I always say: a bad day huntin or fishin is better than almost any other day !

Keep the faith, it couldn't have been that bad, unless you ran out of beer ??

I always say the same thing!

Didn't have any beer at all! It was too early in the morning. We didn't plan on being there the whole day. Just a coupla hours. So all we brought was coffee, sodas, sandwiches & smokes.

We DID see the aftermath of the Tanker Truck crash & the Freeway Overpass Collapse.  We have to drive straight through there on our way back home. What usually takes us 30 minutes to get home took 2 hours yesterday.
