Air Arms Pellets
« on: April 27, 2010, 03:32:45 PM »
I have noticed that Pyramid Air lists the diabolo field 8.44 grain domed pellets with two different head sizes 4.51mm and 4.52mm. Does anyone know why Air Arms has two head sizes for the same pellet?

I haven't seen anything mentioned on the Forum about Air Arms pellets. Has anyone tried their pellets?

They are made for Air Arms by JSB. They offer different head sizes because some barrels do better with a smaller or larger head size. For someone trying to squeeze out that last bit of accuracy, pellet head size may mean a smaller group. I have not tried them, but they should be a accurate quality pellet.

Thanks Nathan, Just the info I wanted to know.

I will order a tin of each size and give them a try in RWS 48.

My ProSport loves the 452 and gives great groups, but I have also wanted to try the 451 and have some on the way as some have reported that they are even better. Worth a try. Regards

Some of my best groups have been shot with the AA 4.52 pellets in both my HW97Ks. The JSB 8.4 and H&N 8.6 Trophy also shoot extremely well in those rifles. The JSBs, which are for all intent and purpose nearly the same pellet, are a bit tighter fit... but those and the AA pellets will shoot to near identical point of aim and within 10fps velocity.

I have the H&N 8.6 Trophy pellets on the way as well as both of the air arms pellets. It will be a very cool day indeed when they arrive for testing. I have the JSB 8.4 grain, 8.0 predator, and  RWS 8.3 grain round nose pellets, and they are so far tied for accuracy. However, I favor the JSB 8.4 grain and RWS pellets, because they more cost effective.

Every gun has a preference of some sort... I'm sure out of those you've selected, you'll find something your gun likes.

I ordered the 4.52s yesterday as well. Not happy with how my guns are performing, hopefully this may make some difference.
