bad day
« on: May 22, 2010, 06:25:23 AM »
Have any of you had a bad day that just seems to not end. My bad day started yesterday at about dusk dark when my 2 dogs started barking through the back door glass. Now my dogs are housedogs but what got me was when they ran into the living room back wards still barking scared to death. Well that got my attention so i grab a flashlight and go down the back deck steps and i am looking to see whats out there and i hear a scream  i mean close  i about messed my pants. My first thought was gun i need a gun now!!! i knew the scream was a bobcat and it was close, so i took off up the steps and fell and skinned my leg. Well i was boiling by then its not the same to skin your leg when you are 58 years old and it *_*_*_*_*_*ed me terribly , anyway i went into the house  and grabbed  the closets gun i could a old 20 gauge shotgun, then i couldn't find any shells in the mean time the wife is frantically asking me whats wrong and the dogs are still barking sounds like the mardi gra at my house .I grabbed the pistol and went back out  and proceeded to fall halfway down the steps, well i got up bleeding bruised and *_*_*_*_*_*ed  and of course it was gone i could hear it in the woods squalling so i took a couple shots towards where i thought it might be and it shut up. i got up this mourning barely able to walk around 530 and that dang thing  is still close i could hear it in the woods.            Now i have not hunted in years  but i have every intention of killing this danged thing. I went to the local wally world and bought me a remote preditor call . Well when i got home loaded it with batterys  got my remington sps out of mothballs and walked down behind the house  and tryed to turn it on and quess what dang thing want work, i came very close to shooting it!!! i just got back from wally world and they did not have anymore so that figures. I sit my rifle at the steps outside  and was going to pressure wash the end of the house but i could not get the hose sprayer off the hose  to connect it to the pressure washer. I proceeded to bend the end of the hose trying to get it off and i ruined the end of the hose  and the bad part is i live 13 miles from town, so i am seriously thinking of going to bed  and  pray tommorrow is better.    thanks david

WOW David,

What an exciting night !

The first thing I would recomend is that you use a 12 gauge shotgun with buckshot, and don't track the Bobcat, he will be waiting for you, most likely from high in the trees !

These are clever and dangerous predators, and they know the woods far better then we do !

Set up some bate in a safe area to shoot into, sit inside your home and wait ! If your outside the cat willcircle around to smell what is down wind of the bate, and may attack you from behind !

These are very smart and dangerous animals !!!!!

Or better yet, call Animal Control, that's why they get the BIG BUCKS to do this crap ! And you won't get into trouble ! :o
