I have used both CPs and CPHPs on California ground squirrels with great success. They do plenty of damage when they bore a 5.5mm tunnel through the brain pan, or heart/lung area, as that is a pretty big percentage of a squirrels body mass (I think it would be like a 20mm to a human, or worse).
Hollow points don't expand much at airgun velocities, anyway. I try to use what's most accurate in a given gun and don't worry too much about the subtler differences in wound channels in vermin. In dangerous game (including felons) it is a different story.
