Another Grackle Down
« on: June 01, 2010, 11:38:37 PM »
I had a mini heart attack yesterday.  I looked outside and there were three grackles combing there way through the lawn.  Out of the blue came a rabbit and he took priority over the flying monsters.  To make a long story short I had my Cometa Fusion which is sighted in for ten yards and the rabbit was out to about 25 yards so I missed that shot and by the time I grabbed the RWS 48 the rabbit was gone but the birds made the mistake of staying and this guy payed the price.  His buddies hopped up onto the fence as I leaned out of the door and once he was in my scope his fate was sealed.  Put the pellet right through his brain most likely.  It was interesting though, as he lay there motionless a bunch of Red winged blackbirds came to inspect my kill for me  :D .  Not sure if they were gonna steal him from me or what but I scared them away just in time to photograph my quarry.

This is exactly how he was when I walked up to him.
