3 different guns 3 different kills
« on: May 28, 2007, 02:02:17 PM »

Unfortunately gang my neighbor needed his digi cam back so I was unable to shoot the pics. But I had a good day of shootin. The cowbirds started landin in the yard about 5:30 tonight and what was kind of strange was they were landing around my pellet trap.... not a good place to be if you are a cowbird hehe. I usually keep my trap at 30 yards.... its a little further when I am set up inside in my back hallway. It was raining off and on all day so I just decided to camp out inside and shoot to the outdoors. I started off the day getting the RWS 34 sighted in at 30 yards with CPL's and was pulling down 3/4" groups so I was happy with that. The B26-2 was sighted in for CPL's at 30 yards but I switched to Tomahawks and sighted them in... not as accurate in the B26 but close enough, 1" groups at 30 yards. Then I started messin around with the Camoed B3 sister. She was sighted in for 10 yards with CPL's and ROald had got a bird yesterday with her at about 20 yards. I sighted her in today at 30 yards with the CPL's and she was grouping zeroed shots at about 1/4" groups. And then the birds started landing lol... hmm I wonder if it was because there was some food laid out for em..who could have done that???? The B3 was the first winner knocking a cowbird off the top of the pellet trap, I thought I just hit it and it flew off because I couldnt see it behind the trap. The 2nd winner was the RWS 34 cowbird #2 was wandering around to the right of the pellet trap a little behind it also. I must have kept the crosshairs on that little bugger for 10 minutes before I thought I had a decent shot. It finally looked me straight in the eye through the scope and the crosshairs were right between the eyes. It just fell over backwards talons up in the air. The last winner was the B26-2, since I had it sighted in for Tomahawks at 30 yards and my groups were a little large the last bird I wasnt to sure I was gonna get a good shot on it. For some reason the big male cowbird decided to land on one of Dano's wooden backstops he made for the shootout. I put the crosshairs right on the side of his head and squeezed the shot off. This one fell behind the backstop. So I decided to go and get what I thought were the 2 birds I killed with the B-26 and RWS 34. The RWS 34 and CPL combo put a hole right between the eyes of the meandering cowbird right where I was aiming I liked that. The B26-2 Tomahawk combo yielded a blown out neck on its prey... half the birds neck got ripped away I was rather impressed with that. When I went behind the wooden backstop to fetch the B26's kill I saw the B3's kill behind the pellet trap. This B3 CPL combo got a nice center of chest shot that went all the way through good clean kill. All in all a good day of shootin for me.

Sounds like you had a good time John, did you ever find out who was puttin the feed out, hehe. I like the way those tomahawks tear up the game also, as long as your gun likes them, they can do some damage. They take the heads clean off on black birds, hehe, no bag limit and no closed season here in AL.

Mike I did find out the person who was puttin the bread crumbs out by my pellet trap... dude's name is Itwasntme... I kind of like him but he also pi$$es me off at times because he is also the person who keeps on using my tools without putting them back where they belong so sometimes he can be a jerk.
