Went back to the duck farm today, except this time I was lookin for birds instead of G-hogs. The weapon of choice was my B26-2 .177 teamed up with the GAMO Tomahawks that she loves so much.
Was a simple setup,,,,, I sat inside one of the large breeder duck barns close to a window and popped the starlings as they landed on a telephone pole. Distance from my hideout was 20 yards.
The birds were very wary and even though I was concealed fairly well I still had a lot of birds that were going to land flare off at the last minute. Was a little frustrating at times, especially since it was hot as hell inside that barn, but I had good shooting for about an hour before the birds got wise.
Total for the day was 17 starlings and 1 pigeon. I couldn't retrieve 4 of the starlings for photos,,,, they did a death glide and wound up in a gooey duck poop drainage ditch that I certainly wasn't going into, but I did take a couple of pics of the other starlings and the pigeon.
I did see a couple of G-hogs during my hunt, but I let them be since this hunt was for birds :)
