Thanks to Stephanie and Rich.

I received the BSA Lightning XL that I traded my Extreme for yesterday.
I was very excited and gave it a quick once over and took it out back
to make some one hole groups..... :0 it shot 3" groups at about 12yards!

So, I took it back inside and checked and tightened the stock screws that were
loose. Back outside I went, nowit was producing 2.5" groups, a bit better butstill way
off the mark. I then decided that thescope thatit came with must be bad.
So I swapped it out for one of mine. The groups tightened up to 2".. still way bad.

Iturned on the Bat signal and waited,Stephanie was first to come to my aid
I ran the problem by her and we bothdecided that giving the barrel a good cleaning
would not hurt.... so Idid that.
Next Rich responded with a bore check test. I pushed a pellet through the barrel as
instructed and after it got 1" into the bore, just past the breach, it fell freely to the
crown where it hit a ridge, not a choked end, but a ridge right at the very tip / crown.
I gave it a bump/ firm push to get it to get by the crown before it fell to the floor.

I immediately put another call out to Stephanie (at 11:00pm) and asked her to perform
the same test on her new XL.
It turns out the barrels are not choked and that the "free fall" looks tobe normal for the XL,
her's didthesame as mine except for the sudden stop at the crown end.

Soit looks like the crown has some how gottena ridge on it.... If anyone knows how to get
the shroud off this thing so I can get to the crown to fix it,please let me know.
Thanks,
Roald.
