Pellet Choices for QB's
« on: February 01, 2008, 09:36:20 PM »
Can I ask what your favourite pellet choices are for your QB's ? Not so much for hunting but just general target work? After trying a score of different makes of pellets I have finally settled on Crosman Premier and RWS Superdomes as being best suited for me. Of the two I prefer the RWS as they are a little cheaper to buy, hehe.
I'll enjoy hearing about your favourites :)
regards,
Alan
PS. If you a fave' hunting pellet tell me too as I am going shooting with a friend soon and he tells me there are rabbits to be had for the pot!

Predetors and Crosman destroyers for hunting in .177. Peak pellets that Archer sells for punching paper have worked very well for me out to 30 yards(furthest I can go) in .177 and .22. predetors jsb exacts beeman fts and rws superpoints have all worked well in all my qb's in .22

I’ve tried several brands but discovered my particular QB78D (.177) likes Crosman Premier Domed, 10.5 gr.  I don’t hunt, I just kill a whole lot of  paper and when Mike (Splash) invites me over, it's golf balls, empty Co2 cartridges, plastic water bottles  and an occasional paintball.  :)

Mine hasn't been picky.  Usually test at 22yards at home to sort out the good from the bad, but there aren't that may "bad".

For use around the house, where i only get 20-25yards, will use the WC pellets.  Like the "smack", done' need the high BC and penetration, and they are usually cheaper.

For hunting, this QB79 Gets the Benjamin/Sheridans.

Mine eats whatever I feed it. But then again I've recrowned the barrel since I bought it.

When I first got it, only the looser fitting pellets would group nicely. It shot great with CPL's. After the recrown, it digests EVERYTHING with minimal shift in POI and nearly no change in group size. Most of the time my group moves up or down depending on pellet weight & how tight it fits. Other than that, she isn't very pickey at all.

It depends somewhat on the velocity, under 600 fps in .177 I'd try RWS magnum wadcutters for target, for over 600 fps go with a domed pellet, Crosman, RWS superdome, or Gamo hunter....wadcutters tend to lose accuracy over 600 fps as a general rule.....

Hi Mike,
I agree that the RWS's are good in my QB's. Of all the pellets I have purchased they seem to be the best except for Crosman Premier but they cost a lot more so the RWS's are good value. I like the Superdomes best. In the beginning I just used anything I could buy but now realise the cheaper types are fine for tin cans but the better quality ones reward me with clser groupings. Or maybe I am getting a better shot ?  :p

Alan

Mine seems to like Gamo Hunters, but Mike put 5 in one hole with the RWS Magnums.  Hunters are easy to get and cheap.

For me it's H&N Barracuda, does very good in my QB79 up to 35 yards...it is a bit on the heavy side though:)

In my .22 I've been using mostly beemans. Silver Ace, FTS, bearcubs and lazers all work pretty good.

Mine like anything I feed them. The .177 really likes the RWS Hobby and Gamo Match.
The .22 likes Superdomes, but is also happy with cheap Daisy WC.
