My Disco arrived around 5:30
« on: March 19, 2008, 11:45:05 AM »
I took it out of the box ; immediately checked to see if the foster fitting I had would fit and installed the fitting onto my scuba fill hose. Then I filled her up to 2000psi , cocked the bolt and pulled the trigger . POP! Yep; as I had read pretty loud. Since I didn't want to alert the neighbors of my new purchase I took it to the garage , to my 6 meter indoor range .And about the trigger ; it's not a match trigger by any means, but it's not that bad .It feels a little mushy .   OK for a plinker rifle.  I then shot at least 30-40 shots into a group that could be covered with a quarter . Yea, I know it was only 6 meters , but this is standing ,off hand, with the factory open sights and the rear one although fiber optic looks like a blurr with two red eyes glaring at me!!  I imagine it looks like someone we know sees things when they wake up after a few Coronas the night before. LOL I then took the Disco and  removed her from the stock and took out the hammer spring. I noticed it was stronger than any of the ones I've seen in a Crosman 22XX or 13XX . So off to the hardware store to find a lighter one. The Tru-Value in town when I got there was closed , it was 5:55 and they closed at 5:30. An Ace hardware  was about 15 minutes away , so off I went . I got there at 6:12 ; you guess it , they closed at 6:00 . Dang; On my way home I decided to swap springs with my 2250 I had at home and see what happens. After stealing the 2250's spring and installing it , I filled the Disco to 1800psi and cocked and shot (no pellet) her. I noticed it was a lot quieter . I chose to lower my fill pressure knowing with the lighter spring , I might experience valve lock if I filled it too high . I then took it out to the garage and , Wow , what a difference. It was even  quieter with a pellet . I took it outside to my target and at 10 meters with the same open sights shot a group that  was less than impressive . Probably at least an inch and a half , but this too, was off hand with those factory sights. It's not the gun's fault , it's my poor eyesight I'm sure. I then installed a scope and took some pictures . Anyway; tomorrow I'll do so more testing sighting in the scope and shooting some across the chrony and will bring you my take . As far as appearance goes , I would rate it a "C"  Even though this is an entry level PCP , a little more care taken with the finish of this rifle would have been nice. It not Walnut , not even close . It's Beech and it has what looks like a sprayed on finish that feels  gritty to the touch. My particular stock came with two nicks in top of the cheek piece of the butt stock . Looks like it was dropped and let go through QC probably because so many people are wanting one of these and it's hard for Crosman to keep up with demand. Sorry for the long post , I just wanted to give my first impressions. kirby

Hey David,

Your stock is much lighter in color than mine and appears to have a completely different grain pattern entirely. Is it possible they are using different wood types??? I'm no wood expert, heck, I don't even know for sure what kind of wood is on my rifle but mine doesn't look like beech to me. Anyway,,,, I rather like the lighter coloring of your stock.

I feel the same about the trigger,,, but I don't have the expertise to feel comfortable messing with the trigger mechanism so I'm just gonna leave it for now and see if it smooths out any on it's own as it gets more use......

I'm looking forward to your next posts,,,, especially the chrony results.........
