Accushot scope mount decision
« on: April 11, 2008, 12:33:09 PM »
UPS just delivered Accushot one piece mount so I'm ready to mount new Bushnell 4X12 on my Hunter 440.  After opening this one piece package I was surprised to find "cushion strips" (black synthetic fabric) on inside of new rings.  (Prior BSA 4X32 slipped in Gamo rings with same strips, on same rifle, so I'd removed those.)  Any advice on whether to leave strips in place, or remove, will be greatly appreciated!

I plan to degrease all mating surfaces and screws with denatured alcohol, will use 242 Blue LocTite on threads for final assembly.  After LocTite(ing) and tightening all screws I don't want to disassemble again anytime soon if I can avoid having to.

I have the accushot mounts on almost every one of my rifles and I've just left the strips in and I've never had any problems at all.

Jeff,
Thanks a lot for quick response back.  My b'day is 13th so am 'itchin' to mount new scope tomorrow morning, then it should be ready on Sunday for trial run.  The L.A. Olympics air gun range is within easy driving distance, but open weekends only.  I just saw first $4 gas here on Friday, Premium $4.059, Diesel $4.469, if this keeps up I may have to trade in my 9 year old Jeep Wrangler one year earlier than planned.
