Dark Side???

So why do we associate PCP with the dark side?  Is it because once you enter....you never come back?

I think it's because folks are afraid of the unknown , like the dark . It's the Airgun of the times. Look for more and better in the future. kirby

Well.....

The way I'm thinking about it right now is.

Why in the heck did I mess around with springers, multi-pumps and Co2 Guns in the first place?
At first I just wanted to get into the air gun game for pest control, then I started hunting with said air guns.

Now I find out a PCP really is that much easier too shoot and thats no joke.
I'm hooked now, but I probably won't give up on the "other" powerplants just because of the challenge involved compared to PCP.

In a few words, I guess I could say go with the flow and choose what works best for you.
Personally I like em' all.

The Dark Side! It is a driving force in which all of us springer addicts have to resist on a daily basis..:) It is like being a drug addict... If you hang around with them then you get sucked in.. hehe In order to keep from being sucked in you have to trash your computer, change your name and move to Greenland..:) Many of us start out with springers and many of us do step into the Dark Side, but some of us with strong will power can pull our selves out of the Dark World and come back to springers..:) Springers are just so easy to shoot and no fuss with all the added hardware. All you need is a springer and isa ten of pellets... hehe I once was sucked into the Dark Side and came bouncing back to my springers..:) But the Force is always there and I may lose my will power again and slip into the dark side for a second time..:) I have seen others like a yo yo do the same thing as me many times..hehe Gene

I think it's black magic to some, also much easier to shoot which makes it very appealing...kinda like the Dark Side of the force, easier road, hard to come back.  I had something around 15+ springers a year or so ago, then I bought a PCP, then another, then another, then another, until now I am trying to shed my B26 and only keep my G1 that was a gift.  Ordered a new PCP today also:)

Didn't you see Star Wars ?
The Dark side is a force calling all of us to come over to and supposedly we all know we're going to end up there eventually anyway.
I'm guessing that the analogy is You never go back unless you're of higher intelligence or willed  like Obie Wan Kanobie or Yoda??
I don't know.

Dan, aka Disco Dan;( it's the only gun my dentist let's me shoot) presently on the Dark side.

I'm pretty sure that you're right---once you try it and the feel the "power" of supreme accuracy and ease of use (other than the hassle of refilling tanks, etc..) you'll never go back to the "primitive" springer or multi-pump. Are you from SLO or just live there now? I went to college there years ago--did a bit of hunting around there as well.

I have lived here for four years while I have been going to school.  Where did you hunt?  I work for an Engineering firm near the airport located on a large lot.  There are lots of ground squirrels around and lots of room for long range target shooting. It's a plus that my boss is also a springer lover, but after shooting my new PCP I think he's close to crossing over.

I just re-started my air gun hobby after almost a 20 year break.  I've been reading about the Talon SS....and I'm tempted!!!  I just need to read more about PCP's to see if they need more maintenance then springers.  Maybe I'll just tip-toe over and buy one PCP airgun to see what the fuss is all about.....
