arg!
« on: April 28, 2008, 11:11:25 AM »
Last time I shot my gamo, there was a harsh vibration as it fired, and when I try to cock it the barrel goes almost all the way down but doesn't lock and certainly doesn't charge the rifle.  There seems to be something blocking the full movement of the cocking arm.  I took off the stock to see if anything visible was wrong there but no dice.  Can I send it to charliedatuna or is it back to gamo with it?

any advice appreciated

Nick, it may be a busted mainspring. If you can see enough of the spring through the cocking slot in the bottom, you MIGHT be able to see if it's given up the ghost. If it's a new Gamo, you might want to send it back for a new replacement. On the other hand, all reports indicate that you can't go wrong sending it to CDT for a complete going over. You'll definitely get back something much better than you sent away.

Hopefully others will chime in with some help.

Nick:

Please understand the difficulty in making any accurate diagnosis from afar. Sounds like, from your description, a possible broken main spring, broken spring guide or cracked, broken or disengaged cocking pawl. If the problem is due to a manufacturing flaw, the manufacturer, in this case Gamo, will never know if they never see it. Thus, you may want to explore your warranty option, if you have one. Recognition of "field failure" in any volume spurs most reputable manufacturers to improve quality control which could help our fellow Gamo purchasers in the future.
Please keep us posted.
