webley raider info needed
« on: April 25, 2008, 01:07:57 PM »
i am sure i am pestering you all to death with my questions but i want all the info i can get before i open my wallet for another gun, thank you all for your input and patience. now with that said, i was looking at the bsa lonestar but i just found a webley raider with a walnut stock.  how do these two compare?  is the webley regulated, i couldn't find any info on that?  i want my pcp to be .22 and i want to be able to reach out and touch someone with it.  i want to make 50+ yard shots on small game and be able to shoot heavy pellets as i like the knock down power of heavy lead.  please advise.  whatever i purchase, i will be using a hand pump so any recommendations on an easy to use pump is also appreciated.

thanx.

Not sure who is building this gun for Webley. Try looking at the AA410 efr in .22 will shoot kodiaks @around 30-32 fpe. FX makes some great guns as well. If the gun is regulated it will tell you. The BSA Super 10 mk2 I thinks it's called is really nice. Look at AOA's site they have a couple of video's on the bsa guns. The BSA pump is good the Hill pump is considered one of the best.

I know that FX makes the Raider for Webley. I don't know a lot about it beyond that.

50 plus yards with lots of knockdown--consider a talon or condor with 24 inch barrel in .22 or .25. You can check out the Air Force Website. As I recall Air Hog can make you a .25 condor with a factory warranty. Talonairgun.com--just a thought.

The Webley Raider uses a FX action very similiar to the earlier Tarantula. I am almost positive that the Raider is not regulated as my Tarantula was not. I'm not even sure if any of the FX rifles use regulators. That said you can still get a good shot count and power curve without a regulator on a well designed gun. If you use it for hunting you probably wouldn't notice the lack of a regulator. Most PCP's will get between 20-40 full power shots (some models will get more than that) depending on the air resevior size, valve efficiency etc. I use a Hill pump with the Dry Pak to fill my rifles and what I do is shoot them from around 3000 psi (full charge) to around 2000 -2500 psi and "top it off" That takes less pump strokes. It can reallly s@ck to shoot your rifle down to 1000 psi or less and them have to recharge with a pump. It can be done, but it can work you out! : ) If you buy a PCP I would suggest buying one with a built in pressure gauge. They are nice to see your approximate air pressure at a glance.

Roger, for the same price maybe less, you can get THE BSA SUPER TEN MK3,w/regulator,10shot rotary mag,30ft.lbs .22..,I have shot this gun many times & does nothing but amaze me each time,it is super quiet, extremely accurate,I am not the best of shooters.....at 25-30yards I can put a hole in a hole 8 out of 10 times, I can hit .177 pellets at the same distance.....I didn't believe it untill I tried it myself........I am  not that good of a shooter, with this gun,I am that good........Ithink it is a real nice rifle for the price.........
