Yes, it muffled the echo the hollow stock used to make.  All I hear now is a thunk and a little twang from the spring.

I might try that, you say you just used pillow stuffing? I haven't noticed much vibration myself, but the twang from the spring gets annoying.

Yes, I went to wally world and bought the cheap 2.50 pillow.  It's filled with that polyester/cotton type stuff, or you could use an old cheap pillow you got laying around.  Just cut it open and pull like 1/3 of it out and start stuffing it in there with a dowel or something until you can't get anymore in there.  It did cut out a bunch of the stock vibration associated with the spring's twang, but not entirely the twang itself.

I did this awhile ago and it made a bit of a difference, less twang, more bass like, better balence, and shot better-more consistent...

I've been shooting this thing every day this week and probably have about 1500 rounds through it by now.  She's definitely smoothed out and is shooting much better and I've already taken a few tree rats out with her.  Though I love the fact that I can shoot it all day in my backyard without my neighbors even looking in my direction, the strangest thing is that I'm starting to get really bored of this rifle.  I mean, I don't even feel like picking her up any more.

I just spent half the day today shooting my Varmint Hunter and had a blast.  I almost forgot I had the Whisper.  I started shooting the Whisper and stopped after a few rounds.  One thing that's really starting to get to me is the weight - it's much lighter than I'm used to.  The VH is a few lbs heavier and I enjoy that feel.  Is it strange that for someone so new to air rifles I can be so picky?

My dilemma now is whether to return or exchange her for something else.  I haven't owned and extensively shot any pellet rifle with a wooden stock and that's starting to peak my interest.  I like the look and the weight.  I think the only wooden stock rifles any local stores have here is the Crosman Storm XT, but I've read more negatives than positives about that rifle.  Should I give her more time, or is there a weight solution someone can recommend?  Maybe a wooden stock from another Gamo that may fit this one?

When I can hit 1/4" dots from 10 meters in a modified shooting rest 8 out of 10 times....I get bored also.  Either I start shooting freehand or I run up and down a flight of stairs to get the heart pumping and try to hit those dots again....  I can only get 2 out of 10 if I'm really lucky.....now I'm not bored anymore.  :p   But like you said...the lighter rifles do sway around more......and with the Whisper...you can't add a heavy muzzle break.  Maybe you can stuff foam into the stock to make it heavier, quieter and have less recoil.

You can jam a Nerf Football in like me and add 1 lb or so, made a good bit of difference, less twang, better balence. If bored add a cheap laser and shoot at night!

Had a in-line Black Powder Rifle with the hollow plastic stock. Shot like crap.
One day a guy suggested filling it with some spray in foam insulation.
Tried it and it was night and day! 300% better.

Did it add quite a bit of weight?  I've already stuffed the stock and it improved the twang and shooting, but the weight is what I'm having an issue with.  I may try stuffing something heavier in the stock to try it out then.  I'm looking at adding an additional 1-1.5 lbs to the stock in some way...

You know, I've decided to try something else.  I'm thinking of going with something other than a Gamo this time (since Gamos are all I own).  It dawned on my last night that I can't return it since I gave the stock scope and mount away to a friend, so I'm going to post this up in the classifieds.

Foam insulation did little for weight.
Could maybe add some lead shot? Spent pellets? Mix w/ sand while filling?
Don't really know, but seems like something should work.

Maybe fill with foam, drill out a route for a plumber's lead stick, push it in, and top off with foam again?

Just an idea.

Be aware there are 2 types of spray foam insulation. Expandable & NON-expandable. I used the non-expandable. Believe I found it at Home Depot like $4 per can. 1 can was way more than enough.

You could try a few different things to add weight.  Maybe some lead shot in a baggie, or even a couple tubes of BB-gun bb's.  If you have a lot of spent pellets in your trap, you've got lead.  Another option is some modeling clay.  I would stick that in a baggie, as well, since I don't know how messy it gets, especially on a warm, sunny day with that black stock.  Rolls of pennies, you name it.

Like I said, a cheap NERF FOOTBALL stuffed in there weighs about 1-2 lbs, made quite a difference.
