Got my tank back
« on: May 29, 2008, 10:20:32 AM »
I had a friend give me an 80cu Luxfer tank, out of hydro. Was a little worried when I took it to be hydro'd and found out it was made in '87, anything pre'87 is supposed to be taken out of service, bummer. Well luckily it was mid '87 and it passed no problem, all filled up and ready to charge a few babies.

Thanks J, I haven't checked it yet, but I hope it's OK. It just got back from hydro and they said it was good, it's filled to 3k now.
Joe, shhh and I'll have a package headed your way Monday.

Where is the alloy mark? Mine is a Luxfer I think it was made in 1994. The first hydro mark is from 2000.
The tank is marked "DOT-3AL  3000 R2377 LUXFER 11A94 S50".    Does this mean it was made 11, April, 1994?

Looks like I'll be gettin another tank, very soon. Mine was made April `87 and appears to be a time bomb. I wish now that it would have failed, test, then I could get it replaced, for free. Luckily I can get a new tank locally, for $179.
