The AR6 is something a little different, not because it looks or handles differently to many other air rifles/pcp's....but because of its power and hammer action. The power profile is not typical, and it has a linear drop in power from the first shot to the 30th. (mine is a 60ft/lb model, there is an 80ft/lb model too)

It does handle very nicely though, and if you can get your head around not having a typical power curve, then it is an awsome rifle. It is a hunter, pure and simple.....it puts shots where you want them every time. Its velocity with very heavy pellets/bullets is at the top end of subsonic, (30grain = 900 fps) but is still loud. Lots of space is required to use this rifle safely and have some fun with it.

Quality of build is good, and it is not too heavy either, being a plus when out in the field.

The trigger, when the nammer is cocked is usable and nice, but when using semi auto (single action) is rubbish as it is too heavy for practical purposes. I only use double action but can thumb the hammer quickly without taking the scope from my eye, or dismounting to cock a bolt. The six shooter action should be familiar to most, and its like a six shooter pistol with a stock and scope.....nice!

Pellet/bullet selection is quite simple......it shoots most pellets happily and it is not fussy. It is recommended to use the heaviest ammo you can get hold of, and the payoff is greater downrange efficiency. It is one of the very few air rifles that will give you this benefit in .22 cal. There are .177 and .20 versions available, but I find the .22 version to be flat shooting out to 75 yards with a 30 grainer. Using a 40 grainer rimfire lead projectile there is bit more of a pronounced drop, but its BC ensures a good trajectory out to 100 yards, sufficient to take a hunting shot if you are good enough.

It is not a target rifle, but in the right hands and set up right it will pay dividends to the serious hunter. Oh and get a portable air supply to take with you in the field such as a 4500 psi Pygmee CF tank, it sucks through its air reservoir real quick. 30 shots don't last long at full power when that six shot mag gets used a lot.

Its a beast for its calibre, but well worth owning IMHO.

Naturally the perfect airgun for someone, but...... Gotta love the rubber washer power adjustment method, it is "a" way to go, power droping every shot can be dealt with but given any other option I for one would prefer not to have to deal with it. There is a reason it was dropped from the ARS line years ago and that might be lot's better rifles came on the market (and that was a few years ago.
Need power (you dont to hunt you DO need an aqurite rifle) try a used Career?RWS 707II, power adjustments by clicking to power wheel. pretty darn good groups, still loud on high but that's to be expected. A rather heavy trigger but much better than the AR6.
Heck if you like it buy it but I would really try to test fire one (and some other airguns before buying one myself.

Plenty of power in the AR6 for sure--Build quality is very nice, from the bluing to the Indonesean walnut stock. It's a serious hunting rifle--loud, accurate and fun to shoot. here is a short video i posted on youtube:

I'll be releasing the full epsiode very soon :)

if that doesnt make you want one I dont know what will!  Great video.  Paul, I'm looking forward to some reviews on high end airguns that pyramid sells, like the air arms, and fienwerkbau's.

My only comment is one that probably wont be popular but I cant help it!  Why not just get a .22 rimfire?  The AR6 is not shrouded so it kind of loses it's benefits of being an air-rifle at that point.  Sure you can put a noise reducer on it but then you get into a grey area.

I'd buy a Air Arms 410 ERB, to me it's the ultimate plinker/hunter.  And it's QUIET.
I like fancy bb guns
