Just had to show you my kids shooting their new toy. Its been fun teaching them safety and technique.

I picked up a used Gamo Recon for them (Liam is 9, Gavin is 5). Did a full lube tune and debur, new seal, polished this and that, scope stop, recrown, added a tophat since it did not come with one, loctite where needed, and a day later sighted in the 3-9x32 scope. Little guy is pretty accurate as I was getting quarter size groups at 16 yards. Not bad.

Here they are taking down cans in the backyard on a nice sunny day:

An adjustable stock would be handy.

Yep, the wife seems okay so far. Took a year or so to get her to warm up to them shooting the 760 pumpmaster and the 1377, so having the kids shooting with a scope is a bigger deal than you think. I thought about chopping the plastic stock and epoxy a wood butt plate on it later. The little boy does struggle some just to hold it still so I may build them a small stand to work on.

What is the Length of Pull on the recon?
The online specs that I've seen don't list that number, and I can see that you need a short LoP for your boys.

Hey Ted, whether the stock fits your boys now or later doesn't matter as much as you taking the time and devotion to teach proper safety and how much fun the shooting sports is meant to be.Way to go Dad!

Yes, very fun, and because there is so much handling of the gun between shots, they learn every time how to set the safety, how to pass the rifle, where to point, not point etc. We have been taping quarters to string and hanging them from low branches so when the pellet hits the coin is goes flying around the branch.

Sorry, length of pull is the distance from the inside curve of the butt pad to the trigger.
I use this as a qualifier to tell me if the gun is a junior size or full size rifle.

Great way to spend time with your sons! Looks like they are anjoying a sunny day with their dad
& with each other. Enjoy that father son time while you can they seem to grow up very fast.

Ted, I've been a dad a little longer than you bro. My sons are 19, 16, and 10. Divorced and I got custody, good lawyer!!!! There is no better feeling than having your sons enjoy what you do!!!! We all work out together, play racquetball together, play pool,  baseball, football.......and do we ever shoot a sh*t load of pellets in the yard!!!!!!!! I just love that look of concentration on their faces, ya know?? We're all serious shooters, but the little guy does not play around dude!!!! He shoots a Whisper by laying the barrel across the arms of a lawn chair, looks through the scope with the wrong eye, cocks and loads by himself and VERY rarely misses!!!!!! Introduce your boys to your interests and you'll have friends for life!!! Enjoy it now, but it gets even better as they grow up!!!!

Enjoy it while you can. My oldest son is my regular shootin' buddy (17yrs) but sometimes I can talk my almost 13 yr old into putting down the Gameboy long enough to go shoot BB guns with Dad.
My dad wouldn't let me have an airgun when I was a kid (but we did shoot .22 rimfires from time to time :) ). I gave him a Gamo Shadow last year to "play" with. He really likes it. He's bought himself a couple of Daisy BB pistols. So now when we get to go back to Mom and Dad's we bring our airguns too and the four of us take care of the coke can population out at my grandpa's place!

Thanks you guys. I totally understand when they would rather just chill and play gameboy, but when it's sunny and nice out, I say "let's go shoot" and they both go running for the backyard.

Neither has fired my .22 firearms yet, but they will when they get a bit older and know the safety code inside and out.
