The 9oz. /QB79 fit problem...

..really prefer the tank not to contact the barrel. Some are just a bit too fat...some are threaded off center and "wobble" when you screw them on.  Could mod. to a riser breech (wouldn't have to be too high to clear tanks).

Been using little 3.5oz. tanks, but dug out a steel 9oz. tank for a try.  Fits fine...thinner than the Al tanks...lots of room between the tank and the barrel.




The down side: weight.  All totaled up (with a full fill of co2) that little rifle is running 8pounds 10oz. (and the balance kind of sucks).

Most of my shooting sessions aren't that long...so i'll keep using the 3.5oz. tanks most of the time.

They have 3.5-10oz tanks, under 2"dia. Might cost abit, but it'll solve your problem.

That size steel tank hanging on the tank block is askin for a leak in my experience...

thanks for the link....if they are making those tanks like the "old school" ones were made, then they are truely under 2" in diameter.

The "old school" 7oz. tanks, and long 10oz. tanks, are really under 2" (like 1.95")...basically, they are long 3.5oz. tanks.  Modern 9oz. tanks are  running 2.1 to 2.14"" (guess we just ignore the extra 1/10th inch,  even if it puts us on the wrong side of the "2 inch/2 foot" rule).  Slap a couple of decals on a bare modern 9oz., and it will be about 2.2".

Are right...and even hanging a Al. tank can give you a problem (esp. if you're hunting and the gun can see a little field use).  Not going to keep using the steel tank on QB's...or on the converted RWS 850.

One of the few times I've bothered to glass bed a recoiless airgun....that gas block is bedded to the stock, which hopefully supports the gas block and keeps it from trying to pivot.

Your welcome Rib. They say ALL of there tanks fall under the 2"x2'rule. I haven't bought anythng from them, but they got the size tank you need.

I use a 9oz tank on my XS(QB)78 utilising a maxzbulk.  I have the AR2078 vented stock fitted and whilst it does increase the weight overall it greatly improves the balance.

From my experience  with scuba tanks steel tanks are  lighter than aluminum tank because the aluminum tanks have to be thicker to hold the pressure, weigh them empty to tell  . howie
