Best $49 I Ever Spent
« on: July 17, 2008, 02:07:05 PM »
I went into Academy Sports today looking for some shotgun shells when a "Manager's Special" sign caught my eye. There was a brand new Daisy 1000S with a $59 tag on it. Being somewhat tight with my money I offered the Manager $49 for it. 10 minutes later I am walking out the door with it.
I mounted the 3X9 scope with some better rings and proceeded to shoot it in my basement. First shot went supersonic. The rest were OK. I was really surprised at how easy the gun was to shoot. The firing cycle was smoother than a Gamo. Daisy must have changed the trigger design as it broke at about 3 1/2 lbs. It has some creep that I think I can take out.
I will chrono it after a few more rounds.

I bought one at Academy about 3 weeks ago for $79 before they went for
$59 and feel I got a good deal. You stole that rifle! I like mine and it has a
fantastic trigger(I think you are right, they did improve them). I might go get another.
I did however buy a Ruger Airhawk last Tuesday(awesome gun so far!), so I might miss the sale.
I don't know why people dislike these 1000s' so much, mine is extremely powerful and
accurate. Everone likes the Walther so far(made by Hatsan also) so I can only think that
the older ones were pretty bad. Mine is awesome!
